A new series of Interviews on the genius of Ayurveda and our resident geniuses

Welcome to Ayurveda Talks: Conversations with Ayurvedic masters and enlightening teachers to share with you their inspiration, their profound and practical wisdom, and the genius of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda Talks #2: My Interview with Dr. Robert Svoboda

Dr. Robert Svoboda is the author of twelve books including Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution. is the first Westerner to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India, where all of his training was in Hindi. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda.

In this interview the charming and brilliant Dr. Svoboda talks about why Ayurveda matters now (and it’s not what you’d expect…), how the philosophy of materialism has infected medicine, and the need for a consensus on what Ayurvedic medicine actually is (clue: it has to do with prana, the gunas and Santosha).

Finally, he gives easy, practical suggestions for what we can do each day to weave ourselves back into the web of life in ways that impact the wellbeing of all. For example he invites us to ask at the end of each day, “Have I allowed myself to love and be loved, and to connect to what’s really real?”

I hope you enjoy his wisdom.
