Nadi Shodhana, also called Alternate Nostril Breathing, is a breathing practice to balance, calm, center and restore. It is said to clear, or cleanse, the subtle channels (the “nadis”) of the body, so it helps with depression, distraction, emotional and hormonal balance. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika (2:19-20) says that when the nadis are purified, the body becomes light and radiant, digestive power increases, the inner sound (or nada) awakens, and one becomes free from disease. There are many, many benefits to this practice, but the most important is what it does for you. Try it, and let me know. xo
